B.2 and 3 only
A.1 and 2 only
D.1, 2 and 3
C.3 only

Correct Answer: Option C

Panini (flourished approximately 4th century BCE) was a renowned Sanskrit grammarian and is considered the father of linguistics. He is famous for his treatise on Sanskrit grammar, the Ashtadhyayi.

Pushyamitra Shunga (185 BC-151 BC) was the founder of the Shunga Empire after assassinating the last Mauryan Emperor. There is no direct association between Panini and Pushyamitra Shunga.

Hence, statement 1 is not correct.

Chandragupta II (Vikramaditya) (reigned c. 380–c. 415 CE) was a powerful emperor of northern India during whose reign art, architecture and sculpture flourished. His court was adorned by the Navratnas (nine gems), including Kalidasa and Amarasimha.

Amarasimha is known for his Sanskrit thesaurus, the Amarakosha.

Kalidasa was a famous Sanskrit writer and poet in the court of Chandragupta II. He authored famous plays like Abhijnanasakuntalam and Malavikagnimitram.

Harshavardhana ruled in the 7th century CE, much later than the Gupta period.

Hence, statement 2 is not correct and statement 3 is correct.

Therefore, only statement 3 is correct.
