D.3 only
A.1 and 2
C.1 and 3
B.2 only

Correct Answer: Option B

Statement 1 is not correct: Both Dayabhaga and Mitakshara are systems of family/civil law applicable to the upper castes. The Dayabhaga system prevailed in eastern India, while Mitakshara was followed in other parts of the country.

Statement 2 is correct: According to the Dayabhaga system, sons can claim rights to property and partition it only after the death of the father. In contrast, the Mitakshara system allows sons to claim this right even during the father's lifetime.

Statement 3 is not correct: Both systems address the property rights of both men and women.

While the Mitakshara school placed significant restrictions on women's property rights, considering them unable to become coparceners, the Dayabhaga school was more lenient. A widow, for example, had the right to inherit her deceased husband's share and enforce a partition against his brothers.

Hence, only statement 2 is correct.
