Transport in India
Consider the following airports:
- Donyi Polo Airport
- Kushinagar International Airport
- Vijayawada International Airport In the recent past, which of the above have been constructed as Greenfield projects?
D.1, 2 and 3
C.1 and 3 only
A.1 and 2 only
B.2 and 3 only
Correct Answer: Option A
The Government of India formulated a Greenfield Airports (GFA) Policy in 2008 to facilitate the development of new airports.
Under this policy, developers (including State Governments) must identify a suitable site, conduct a Pre-feasibility Study, and submit a proposal to the Central Government for 'Site Clearance' followed by 'In-Principle' approval.
As per available information, the Government of India has granted 'In-Principle' approval for 21 new Greenfield Airports, including:
- Donyi Polo Airport (Itanagar), Arunachal Pradesh
- Kushinagar Airport, Uttar Pradesh
Vijayawada International Airport is NOT a Greenfield airport.
Therefore, only airports 1 and 2 are Greenfield projects.
Hence option (a) is the correct answer.
